losing my mojo

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. Possibly because it’s been a long time since I’ve felt motivated about knitting. I finished a shawl (except for blocking out all the little points on the fancy bind-off), and now I don’t really want to wear it. Not excited about starting anything new. It’s strange and a little upsetting.

1.5 lace shawls later

I got a little less than three-quarters done with Omelet before realizing that my yarn was really quite a bit too busy. I’m a sucker for variegation.
Now I’m a bit more than three-quarters done with Vernal Equinox Shawl Surpise (Ravelry link, sorry non-Ravelrers).
So that’s about 1.5 lace shawls.
Too busy knitting to blog about it!

Idle hands

Are bored hands. After getting the buttons on my sweater I ripped back on my hooded Mobius scarf and reknit it without the hood; there really wasn’t enough yarn. I love it now. I think I may need to redo the buttonband on the sweater again. The first time I hadn’t picked up enough stitches, this time I got too many.
In the meantime, my hands are restless.

Point protectors

Where do you put your point protectors while you’re knitting?
I tend to forget or lose them if I put them on a table or shelf nearby. If I put them in my knitting bag they fall out or I have to hunt for them when I need them again.
I’ve solved the problem, as long as I don’t wear turtlenecks. They go down my cleavage and get tucked into my bra. I don’t lose them and they’re easily accessible. O

I’ve been known to forget them there, but I always find them at the end of the day.

Fingers are hard

I went yarn shopping yesterday and I have the yarn for my sweater. However, I’ve got my gloves to finish. I’m up to the fingers on the first glove and I’m not having fun with them. I kind of want to put the gloves to sleep and dive into the sweater, but the cat’s on my lap and the gloves are the only knitting within reach.

I’m going to do Dark and Stormy by Baby Cocktails. I haven’t decided what yarn to use yet, but that will come this afternoon when I’m going yarn shopping with my mother. My inclination is towards Cascade 220 Heathers because they’ll be pretty and not too expensive, but maybe I’ll splurge and get something more merino.

Sometimes I feel useful

I recently got a Nike+ system for tracking my run, planning to get one of the litte pouches for attaching the sensor to my shoelaces. Last night I realized that I have the skills, tools, and material to make one for myself. I stayed up a little too late finishing my I-cord, but this morning when I went running my sensor stayed in place!

I picked up another set each of size 4 and 5 circulars today and frogged my glove. While I was at it, I switched to a cabled cast-on; much better results than my normal knit-on for this pattern.
